Black Like Me

If you have not read John Howard Griffin's momentous Black Like Me, pick up a copy as soon as possible. In the book, Griffin documents his travels through the segregated south in 1959 upon dying himself black. The heartbreaking account of the treatment he receives reveals much about the history and current state of racism in our country.

Upon completion of the book, Griffin receives death threats, is hanged in effigy in his hometown, and even 10 years after publication is beaten by the KKK and left for dead. Courageously, he survives and battles on against racism for the remainder of his life.
